January 30: Where is Oregon’s Path From Addiction to Recovery?

Substance Use Disorders (SUDs) are epidemic in Oregon. Two out of three Oregonians suffer from addiction or know someone who does. SUDs costs Oregon $6 billion annually in health care, lost productivity, and criminal justice expenses. Yet few people with SUDs seek treatment and fewer still receive it. Even after treatment, recovery can be short and relapse is common.

Our panel of experts will discuss the problems, solutions, and obstacles Oregon must consider in order to improve treatment access, integrate SUD treatment into healthcare benefits, and improve chances of a sustainable recovery.

Panelists:
Dr. Honora Englander, Director, Improving Addiction Care Team (IMPACT), OHSU
Karen Kern, Senior Director of Substance Use Disorder Service, Central City Concern
Dr. Reginald C. Richardson, Sr. Executive Director, Alcohol and Drug Policy Commission
Tony Vezina, Co-founder and Executive Director of The 4th Dimension Recovery Center (4D)
